"Edwin Schmidts was born in Romania in 1928 and moved to Montreal with his wife in the fifties. He bought two farms in our area in 1965 and planted over 14 000 trees. When Edwin retired, because of the long winters, he got into woodcarving. He used wind damaged basswood and butternut to carve from pictures. Edwin donated over 65 carvings to Sebastian and Laura. He passed away last January."
